With us you can develop your potential and personality. As a communication designer, you will visually communicate complex issues that will influence thoughts and actions. The work you create will not only be aesthetic, but will also convey multifaceted messages and emotions. To achieve this, content must always be understood in its cultural, social, ecological and economic context. Designers are the driving force here.

While pursuing the Bachelor of Communication Design, you will learn from experienced teachers and lecturers from the creative industries, using our extensive infrastructure of workshops, libraries, studios and laboratories. You will also have access to an analog / lead typeface, screen printing, risograph, black and white darkroom, photo studio, printing and scanning lab, MacPools, and a gaming lab.

In addition to the basics of design and design theory, special emphasis is placed on the area of ​​future-oriented digital media. More knowledge about Photography, Illustration, Film and Motion Design, Game Design and Business study programs await you. Our interdisciplinary study structure will make you competent and fit for your future.

Courses, internships, semester abroad

Practice-oriented study focuses on training your specialized knowledge and your creative and conceptual confidence. You will design concepts in the fields of corporate identity, advertising, cross-media campaigns, interface design, application and web design, interaction design, editorial, posters, books, logos and much more. You will learn to initiate innovative solution processes, to moderate methodically, and to work in team structures.

In the fifth semester, you will have the opportunity to put your newly acquired design skills to the test in practice through an internship or semester abroad.

Career opportunities

You, our graduates, will be active after graduation in areas ranging from classic print and digital media to pure online communication. You will work as an art director in advertising or communication agency, as a creative professional in a design studio or as a freelance designer. Clients, companies, public institutions, NGOs, start-ups, publishers, etc., need good communication.

Tuition and funding fees

As a private university, we are not funded by the state, but by tuition fees. Therefore, studying at the European University of Applied Sciences (EU) costs more than at a public university. But it’s worth it: EU graduates meet the essential requirements of design majors, and this sets them apart from graduates of many public universities.

All costs are included in the monthly tuition.

No additional costs such as tuition fees, exam fees, bachelor thesis fees or the like will be incurred as long as the course is completed within the standard study period.

The costs of the semester abroad are not included in these fees, since there are substantial differences depending on the country and the university.

Admission requirements

Students must meet the following requirements to qualify for a bachelor’s program:

• High school diploma or equivalent occupational diploma, incl. experience
• Entrance exam
• Personal interview
• IELTS: overall band score of 5.5

There is no limit to the number of students that can be admitted (numerus clausus).
