Our degree in psychology is accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). The PSI is the professional body for psychology in the Republic of Ireland, with an accreditation allowing honors graduates of our degree to continue their professional training in psychology.

Psychology is the fascinating study of the human mind and seeks to understand how we think, act, and feel. In this grade, you will see compelling questions like: What shapes our personality? How do children develop and learn? What influences our well-being? Why do we sometimes forget things? What gives some teams an advantage over others? A psychology degree at NCI will put you on an incredible journey of discovery. It will also prepare you for a variety of careers.

Your degree could eventually lead you to work in a number of clinical and psychological settings, or alternatively in business areas such as marketing, management and human resources, or in sports, education, social work, among others. By working with our dedicated and experienced psychology faculty, you will gain a strong foundation in all core areas of psychology, including cognitive psychology, personality and individual differences, life development, social psychology, research methods. and biological psychology, as well as specialized topics such as the workplace. psychology and cyberpsychology.

You will cover all major theoretical perspectives, such as the theories of Freud, Jung, and Pavlov, and you will be encouraged to apply these theories to the world around you through an interesting range of projects and assignments. Career opportunities

The degree is recognized by the Irish Psychological Society and therefore enables graduates to complete additional postgraduate training in psychology in areas including:

  • Clinical Psychology
  • Organizational psychology
  • Forensic Psychology
  • Counseling Psychology

Completion of the degree will also provide graduates with access to many other professions, including human resources, recruitment, management, consulting, and marketing.

Admission requirements

Minimum entry requirements are a grade H5 and above in two upper-level subjects along with a minimum of O6 / H7 in four other subjects. A minimum grade of O6 / H7 must be obtained in English. An O6 / H7 grade must be earned in Mathematics.

Please note that exams can be scheduled during the morning, afternoon or evening from Monday to Saturday.
