Greystone College’s Cooperative Diploma in Hospitality Management program is an intensive diploma program specifically designed to meet the vast employment needs of both staff and management in the global tourism, hospitality, resort and convention markets.

Students gain industry knowledge through an internationally recognized hospitality program and gain valuable Canadian work experience during the cooperative work period.

Students will be prepared for a variety of positions in the hospitality industry in guest services, front desk operations, food and beverage, cleaning, event coordination, administration, and more.

Learning methods

Students taking the day program will follow the same course schedule from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM during all parts of study. During the first 48 weeks of the program, students will also take the Job Placement Skills Course (Part 1 and 2) during the afternoon block 2: 45-4: 00 PM to prepare for their cooperative. After completing the final course, students will begin their cooperative work period.

Co-op Training

This paid work experience placement is an integral part of the Co-op program. Students will apply theories learned in class in real-world work settings that are relevant to their field of study and aligned with the learning objectives of the program.

The program’s orientation and pre-placement classes will prepare you to find a suitable placement. During the work experience period, you will receive the support and guidance of a dedicated cooperative coordinator who will work with you and ensure that you receive all the support that is needed to successfully complete the program.

Program structure

Prepares students for careers in hospitality by presenting and describing opportunities in hospitality management. These opportunities include careers in a variety of businesses, including hotels, restaurants, institutions, private clubs, casinos, consulting firms, travel agencies, and cruise ships.

Find out how front desk activities and functions affect other departments and how to manage the main office to ensure your property goals are met. This course provides a comprehensive overview, from the overview of quality staff recruitment and retention, planning and organization, to the technical details for cleaning each area of the hotel.

This course will provide the foundation you need to oversee the provision of quality gastronomic service, including responsible alcoholic beverage service, as well as on-site food and beverage operations.

In this course you will learn about the different income management tools available, as well as their uses. Students will also go over the different vital issues to consider before implementing revenue management tactics, and the consequences or benefits that subsequent use of revenue management may entail.

The course is divided into 2 sections: Work Practice Skills (WPS) 1 and 2.

WPS 1 acts as an introduction to everything you need to know about living and working in Canada and assists students in the process of applying for a Social Security Number (SIN) . It also prepares students for the workplace, helping them apply for jobs and making sure their resumes and cover letters meet industry standards.

WPS 2 prepares students for their cooperative work experience and develops their networking skills.

During cooperative work placement, students will practice their skills at a local workplace in a position related to the specific goals of their program. Students will be required to complete work assignments assigned by the employer. Additionally, students are required to provide regular (monthly) feedback on their Greystone College placement experience, using prescribed reporting forms.

Admission requirements

  • Students who are interested in attending Greystone College must have a high school diploma, GED, or mature student status. For international students, a Bachelor’s degree taken in the country of origin will be necessary (for international students). The degree and grades must be officially translated into English.
  • All applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate an intermediate level of English 3 with Greystone College’s online written and oral test.
  • All students must have their own device (tablet / phone / laptop) to access course materials through our Learning Management System (LMS).

Online written and oral test is exempt if TOEFL iBT 55, IELTS 5.0 or ILSC I3 is taken.
If an applicant does not meet the minimum requirements, neither the institution nor the student can waive him.
