In recent years there have been three key developments that have helped Artificial Intelligence become a real world technology with practical applications. It’s about cheaper and faster processing and storage capacity, better big data analytics tools, and better machine learning algorithms. These developments mean that we can now teach machines rather than program them.

This is a major paradigm shift because, until recently, when we wanted to automate a task using artificial intelligence, we had to fully understand it in order to code it into a set of computer programs. The more complicated the task, the more difficult it was to automate. Now we can feed that data into a machine learning algorithm which then learns to reproduce the behavior. Collecting data is much faster than trying to understand and anticipate every eventuality. Which means we are now accelerating progress on the AI front. Just look at the progress companies like Google, Facebook, and Amazon are making in their adoption of artificial intelligence solutions.

This course is designed to prepare you for an exciting and challenging career in AI research and development.
