The Master of International Business has been specifically designed for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of the international business environment as employees or as business owners / managers operating internationally. The requirement that managers think globally but act locally is vital to success. An understanding of the international environment in which organizations now find themselves cannot be overemphasized.

The course is aimed at anyone who follows a career path that requires them to occupy middle to senior management positions in a business environment with an international focus. In addition, the course can provide a transitional stage for graduates from other disciplines who wish to move into the field of management, whether as professionals, researchers or consultants.

Program structure

Candidates are required to complete 9 core modules, including research methods and dissertation modules. Candidates can also choose an elective course to take during this time, subject to the number of students. Please note that all modules count towards the final award ranking. The international field trip has an additional cost and is subject to the number of students. Visa restrictions may apply.

The Master of International Business course is awarded by QQI at level 9 in the National Qualifications Framework. This award will allow transfer to level 9 research degrees and, in some cases, progression to doctoral courses taught at level 10 at the NFQ.

Admission requirements

Applicants must have a minimum of 2.2 honors degrees in a cognate or non-cognate area at level 8 of the National Qualifications Framework.

The university operates a Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) scheme, which means that undergraduates with extensive professional experience and other prior qualifications can also be considered for the course.
