If you are passionate about how things work and enjoy science experiments and mathematics, you should study physics, the study of the universe, from the largest galaxies to matter itself.
Physics and technologies developed by physicists play an important role in chemistry, biology, medicine, electronics, geology, and in the applied fields of optics, nanotechnology, computer science, and engineering.
His concepts, from relativity to quantum mechanics, defy imagination. An education in physics not only develops problem-solving skills, but also provides a firm understanding of basic science and the ability to apply and adapt that knowledge in the workplace.
Program structure
All modules are 5 credits unless otherwise noted.
Practicalities of the course
Evaluation
Written exams will take place before Christmas and in May. Not all modules will have formal exams. Many modules use other types of assessment.
Who teaches this course
Staff from the disciplines of mathematics, applied mathematics, and statistics teach modules in this course, which is one of the two best degrees offered by the school, putting at your disposal a wide range of mathematical knowledge and experience in investigation. Proof of this is the high level and wide range of final degree projects that we offer.
Career opportunities
The UCC program offers an excellent education in both experimental and theoretical physics.
Physics and the technologies developed by physicists play an important role in atmospheric science, chemistry, biology, medicine, electronics, geology, energy, optics, nanotechnology, computer science, and engineering.
An education in physics provides problem-solving, analytical, computational, mathematical, and IT skills and can lead to a wide range of careers.
You will enter the job market with a first-class numbering degree from one of the strongest math science departments in the country.
Employers highly appreciate the emphasis on developing problem-solving skills in a variety of disciplines. Our students have an excellent track record in both post-graduation professional development and graduate study.
We have strong links with local, national and international companies, as well as a strong international reputation for research, which will add value to your degree.
