The BSB51415 Project Management Diploma course should equip students with the confidence necessary to manage projects in a variety of contexts and in various industry sectors. Students will gain solid foundational knowledge in key areas of project management and how to achieve project results. By the end of the program, students should have the ability to use a variety of specialized, technical, and managerial skills to initiate, plan, execute, and evaluate their own work and / or the work of others.

Learning methods

In all of our programs, you will create a schedule that combines 14 hours per week of face-to-face study in class and 6 hours per week of online study. The online study component includes exercises, discussion forums, and resources to help you with assignments and provide foundational learning and academic skills. Class study schedules combine the core lesson with basic skills and PASS classes.

You must attend both conferences, as each conference covers different content. PASS classes are practical assessment support sessions. In PASS classes, you will meet with your teacher to discuss any questions you may have about the study or the assessments. Foundation Skills sessions help you develop language and other business skills. You will learn to speak and present ideas with confidence. Topics include conducting meetings, writing business emails, negotiating, and making presentations.

Management at the strategic level requires systems and procedures to be developed and implemented to facilitate the organization’s operational plan.

MANAGE EFFECTIVE RELATIONSHIPS IN THE WORKPLACE

This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to lead and manage effective work relationships.

MANAGE PEOPLE'S PERFORMANCE

This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to manage the performance of the staff who report directly to them. The development of key result areas and key performance indicators and standards, along with regular and timely training and feedback, provide the foundation for performance management.

LEAD AND MANAGE TEAM EFFECTIVENESS

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead teams in the workplace and actively participate in the direction of the organization.

MANAGE THE SCOPE OF THE PROJECT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to determine and manage the project scope. It involves obtaining project authorization, developing a scope management plan, and managing the application of project scope controls.

MANAGE THE PROJECT TIME

This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to manage time during projects. It involves determining and implementing the project schedule and evaluating the results of time management.

MANAGE THE QUALITY OF THE PROJECT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to manage quality within projects. It involves determining quality requirements, implementing quality assurance and control processes, and using review and evaluation to make quality improvements on current and future projects.

MANAGE THE COST OF THE PROJECT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, analyze, and refine project costs to produce a budget and use this budget as the primary mechanism for controlling project cost.

MANAGE THE HUMAN RESOURCES OF THE PROJECT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to manage human resources related to projects. It involves planning human resources, implementing training and staff development, and managing the project team.

MANAGE THE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION OF THE PROJECT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge necessary to link people, ideas and information at all stages of the project life cycle. Project communication management ensures the timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and disposal of project information through formal structures and processes.

MANAGE THE RISK OF THE PROJECT

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage risks that may affect the achievement of project objectives. It involves identifying, analyzing, treating and monitoring project risks and evaluating the results of risk management.

MANAGE THE PROJECT INTEGRATION

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to integrate and balance overall project management functions of scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, and procurement throughout the project life cycle; and align and track project objectives to meet organizational goals, strategies, and objectives.

Admission requirements

An equivalent to the Australian school certificate from year 10. It would be helpful to have prior knowledge and work experience in a business environment. For international students, a Bachelor’s degree taken in the country of origin will be necessary. The degree and grades must be officially translated into English.
International students must meet a minimum language requirement of IELTS 5.5 with a minimum band score of 5.0. TOEIC 650 with a minimum reading score of 350.
Direct entry is available through ILSC Intermediate 3 and higher.
Students must be at least 18 years old at the beginning of their studies.
