The MBS (Marketing Stream) is the one-year MBS program taught to prepare graduates for marketing and sales careers within organizations. Through our interactions with companies, WIT School of Business has identified the need to provide an innovative, practice-based marketing program that will prepare graduates for roles in marketing, branding, product development, sales, market research. and international sales practice. The course was developed in collaboration with key stakeholders, such as the South East branch of the Irish Institute of Marketing and partner companies in the region, including Glanbia and Flahavans.

The course addresses a clear need for graduates trained in the application of specialized marketing techniques. Graduates are equipped with the experience to trade domestically and internationally, create and run advertising campaigns, collect and analyze data related to market opportunities, manage customer relationships, develop and execute digital marketing strategies, and participate in testing. viability and the launch of new product concepts.

MBS (Marketing Stream) graduates will possess a unique and valuable combination of in-depth knowledge of marketing theory and contemporary marketing practice, and the ability to apply this in a practice-oriented environment. Modules such as Marketing Strategy, Business Seminars, Reputation Management, Business Simulation, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation facilitate students developing an acute critical awareness of business basics, as well as allowing them to specialize in skill development in areas such as market research and development, branding, market strategy and international sales. Emphasis is placed on integrating key theoretical developments with the ability to critically analyze and apply this theory in real-life situations.

Also, the program allows rational and reflective observation across the spectrum of topics, scrutinizing and appreciating the norms and interrelationships in business. In addition, you will acquire both standard and specialized research competencies during the duration of the program that will enhance your independent learning and organizational skills.

If you have a marketing degree or general business degree with a major / specialization in marketing and would like to pursue a career in marketing, this program has been designed with you in mind.

Please note: In semester 3, students will complete a thesis or applied business project of the 3 research papers.

The MBS (Marketing Stream) is closely aligned with the RIKON and TSSG research group, providing an easily accessible network for our students to be informed about current ideas, thinking, and employment opportunities in the industry. The career prospects for Master of Business (Marketing Stream) graduates are excellent with graduates employed in a myriad of areas ranging from digital marketing, marketing consulting, and creation from advertising, to brand and reputation management. Our graduates serve in marketing roles at some of the following companies: Salesforce, Glanbia, Chia Bia, Agora Group, Bord Bia, Rothco, Paddy Power, and Ryanair, among others.

A graduate may also apply for more Level 10 postgraduate studies, such as a PhD from Research in WIT or other third-level institutions, either nationally or internationally.

Admission requirements

  • An H1 or 2.1 overall award in a strong business / economics and finance undergraduate degree or a general business undergraduate degree with a / specialization in economics and / or finance.
  • Students of a non-business degree (for example, a bachelor’s or bachelor’s degree) but with relevant modules related to economics may also be eligible / finance.
  • Graduates who have earned a 2nd class honors grade 2 in the degrees listed above and who can demonstrate a high level of proficiency may be considered. performance in matters related to economics / finance.
