DCU’s Accounting and Finance course creates solution-oriented accountants and financial services professionals with both Irish and international perspectives.
The course takes you from an introduction to basic accounting concepts, to more complex theoretical and practical accounting studies. You’ll also explore a wide variety of other topics, including business, law, IT, tax, auditing, professional ethics, economics, corporate finance, investing, psychology, marketing, human resources, management, and communications.
Program description
The objective of this degree is to provide you with an in-depth knowledge of the theoretical and practical aspects of accounting and finance, as well as an understanding of the business, legal, tax and IT context. of this work.
The title is structured in three main areas:
- Accounting: Financial and management accounting is studied from Irish and international perspectives. Modules on taxation, auditing and professional ethics are also offered.
- Finance: Provides a solid foundation in the principles of economics, corporate finance, and topics such as investing.
- Business: A complete understanding of business principles is developed through the study of topics such as business and corporate law, psychology, marketing, human resources, management, communications, IT and business strategy.
You can also choose to study one of the three European languages (French, German or Spanish) as part of the course. You can study a language throughout your career or drop it after the first year, depending on your preferences.

Admission requirements
- As a general requirement, a Bachelor’s Degree / Baccalaureate Diploma / General Baccalaureate / Professional Degree from a recognized university with, minimum, is required a subject in mathematics.
- For international candidates, the foreign equivalent is required. In addition, an officially translated degree will be required.
- IELTS 6.5, with no less than 6.0 in any component (or its internationally recognized equivalent).
