Learn to analyze data using cutting-edge technology or traditional methods to drive proactive decision making and optimize business performance. With the ability to interpret and transform large data sets into actionable knowledge, students can increase business efficiency.

This program works with Amazon Web Service Educate (AWS) and Tableau. You will receive access to AWS, where you can test various tools on the platform to obtain micro-credentials. You will also develop data visualization skills using software such as Tableau to facilitate understanding of data findings.

The term cooperative gives you the opportunity to integrate academic studies with related work experience.

You will have 600 hours of guided learning followed by 240 hours of hands-on experience in an established business.

This module is designed to give you the skills you need to improve the quality and usefulness of data analysis starting with the expected results.

The module will allow you to consider the information that an organization wants to obtain from data analysis. This will give you the skills to select the most appropriate data collection method, design implementation approaches, implement data collection techniques, and review the instruments and systems to be developed.

This module incorporates automated data collection as well as traditional methods to enable the development of approaches

This module is designed to introduce the theoretical concepts and practical applications of data auditing, management and decision making. It will provide you with the skills to identify what the data analysis results mean and how they can be applied.

You will learn approaches that can be used to audit existing data within an organization to identify gaps, analyze data, and generate recommendations based on your findings.

As part of your studies, you will be able to learn how to use R, as it is fast becoming the leading language in data science and statistics. Today, R is the programming language of choice for data science professionals in all industries and fields.

This module gives you the opportunity to gain practical experience in data management using analysis software. The module will also cover theoretical concepts from data design and management while teaching techniques for working with Structured Query Language (SQL) and SAS.

The module is designed in two parts; the first part focuses on learning the fundamentals of SQL) with multiple exercises, which is essential for working with databases. You will gain practical experience in accessing and manipulating data to obtain useful information. In the second part, you will learn to use SAS software for data management and analysis.

This module is associated with the data management and decision-making module, and allows you to develop your skills in presenting data to facilitate the understanding of the findings, so that you can make informed decisions. Data visualizations are a powerful method of making data accessible and understandable to non-specialists.

Through this module, you will learn the proper use of graphs and tables, as well as the use of specialized data visualization tools and packages such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, and D3 to visualize data and impact the decision-making process.

Upon completion of the program, you must complete 240 hours of work experience in a suitable business environment. Appropriate business sectors for placement include marketing, retail, finance and accounting, nonprofits, customer service, and administration.

Activities performed will vary by job placement location, however key responsibilities include being supervised by a placement host at all times, observing all safety and security procedures in the workplace and school, dressing appropriately, interacting with other staff members in a respectful, courteous and enthusiastic manner, learning about the work environment and participating in the daily routine as needed.

Admission requirements

  • Have an Ontario high school diploma or equivalent or be at least 18 years old and pass the Wonderlic exam.
  • For international students, a Bachelor’s degree taken in the country of origin will be necessary. The degree and grades must be officially translated into English.

For non-native English speakers:

  • Successful completion of TSoM EAP Level 4 or
  • Have the required IELTS 5.5 score or equivalent or
  • Pass the TSoM English Assessment (written on site or online with the exam proctor)
